Frozen Music x Berliner Philharmoniker, 2024/2025
Music performed by the Berliner Philharmoniker as a 3D-printed sculpture: A project created by artist and designer Julia Koerner together with curator and project developer Andreas Vierziger.
German writer Johann Wolfgang von Goethe once described architecture as frozen music. Schumann’s 4th movement of his third Symphony (Rhenish Symphony) was inspired by the Cologne Cathedral and the geometry for this music sculpture was inspired by the cathedral's architectural elements and created through a design algorithm that converted the music piece into geometry. In collaboration with Berliner Philharmoniker Recordings.
First exhibited at the 100 year anniversary of IFA, the world's largest consumer and electronics show. The project was featured by platforms such as Pantone Connect and Pantone, reaching an audience of millions.
Exhibited at the Berliner Philharmonie in 2025.
